Frequently Asked Questions?
Welcome to the 2017 Croton Youth Lacrosse Spring Season!
Answers to some frequently asked questions:
How much does it cost to Register?
Registration fees are set by the Croton Youth Lacrosse Board based on expected costs for a given team. Croton Youth Lacrosse is a non-profit and all of the coaches and board members are volunteers. The Registration Fee is $100 for Boys 1/2 and for the other teams (Girls 3/4 and 5/6, Boys 3/4 and 5/6) the cosst is $150 for players who don't need or want a uniform and $200 for players who DO want or need a uniform. The Registration Fee is used to pay for US Lacrosse Memberships and Membership renewals and certain of the equipment (balls, etc.) that will be used throughout the season, referees and uniforms. Scholarships covering the CYL registration fee are available. Please contact Ed Gomez, CYL President, if you're interested in a scholarship.
What is US Lacrosse?
Player insurance for Croton Youth Lacrosse is provided through membership in US Lacrosse. Part of your registration fee will be used for a US Lacrosse membership or renewal. Once registered for US Lacrosse, we encourage you to visit the US Lacrosse website, which has loads of helpful information about the game.
Do I need Equipment?
BOYS: Your player will need a stick, helmet, armpads, gloves, mouthguard and cup. These items can be purchased from a number of places, including the Sports Barn in Yorktown (www.sportsbarnyorktownny.com), Laur-Lee Sports in Ossining, Dick’s Sporting Goods or Modells. If you’re unsure about your man’s interest (helmets, in particular, are expensive), we have starter sets available (see the Boys 1/2 Tab above), but you’ll still need to get your own stick, mouthguard and cup.
GIRLS: Your player will need a girl’s stick, lacrosse goggles and mouthguard. These items can be purchased from a number of places, including the Sports Barn in Yorktown (www.sportsbarnyorktownny.com), Laur-Lee Sports in Ossining, Dick’s Sporting Goods or Modells. If you have questions about equipment for the girl's game (which is different from boys), feel free to contact Deb Jillson at email@example.com.
How will I be notified about scheduling?
Croton Youth Lacrosse uses Teamsnap to communicate with parents about scheduling, game locations, availability and cancellations. After you’ve registered, you’ll receive an invitation from Teamsnap. Once accepted, you’ll have access to everything you need.
